About Brookfield
The area later to become Brookfield was first settled by European colonists in 1710, having been bartered from the Wyantenuck and Potatuck native tribes. It was officially incorporated as a town in 1778, when it was called Newbury, but changed to its current name ten years later in honor of the Reverend Thomas Brooks, who was minister of the first Congregational church.
Brookfield has prospered and flourished since its humble beginnings, and is now a wealthy and affluent district of the state, with Money magazine naming it in 2013 as the best town to live in Connecticut and 26th best town to live in the country.
It was once home to the American corporate headquarters of LEGO and was once the site of a major Pepsi bottling plant prior to that soft drink company being sold and the bottling plant moving to New York.
