About Willington
Willington is located in Tolland County, in the northern part of the state. The town was established in 1720 and incorporated seven years later. For the first 100 years, Willington remained mainly a farming community. Rapid commercial growth began in the 19th century. In a short time the town became a center for the textile industry with numerous cotton mills and silk factories. Today, Willington is trying to return to its beginnings by reviving its agriculture as one of the main branches of the town's industry. Also, by having one of the lowest crime rates in the state, Willington shines as it continues to be one of the best places to live.
