About Preston
Preston is located in New London County, in the southeastern part of Connecticut. In 687 first English settlers established a plantation between Norwich and Stonington. A year later, it was incorporated as a separate town. The town’s early commerce consisted of shoemaking, metalsmithing and shipbuilding enterprises. Today, the town retains its rural aesthetic. Being one of the earliest established towns in the state, Preston has numerous properties on the National Register of Historic Places. The town is located near the Pachaug State Forest, the biggest forest in the Connecticut forest system, which is an excellent place for recreation and hiking.
