About Middletown
The city of Middletown lies in the central part of the state, along the west side of the Connecticut River. It was incorporated as a town in 1650 and was known as Mattabeseck till 1653. Originally the town was one of the most important sailing ports on the Connecticut River. For some time it was an industrial center of the River.
Modern Middletown is mostly a residential community that is considered to be one of the best places to live in Connecticut.
