About Fairfield
Primarily established as a farming community, Fairfield remained its status till the Revolutionary War. The British fleet burned a part of town, and the next few decades its residents worked on rebuilding. Another significant change in town life appeared during World War I. Being located near Bridgeport, Fairfield became a part of its munitions industry, which caused fast economical and demographic growth.
