About Peekskill
Peekskill is located in the northwestern part of Westchester County and is only 50 miles from New York City. However, it became a city only in 1940 because from its foundation in 1816 and until 1940, it was a village. With a total population of 24,295 (during the 2019 census), Peekskill has only 14,4 square kilometers of total area. On October 9, 1992, the city was the landing point of a meteorite fragment. At least sixteen individuals filmed this trail. Later the piece of rock was removed to the National Museum of Natural History. One of the most famous spots in Peekskill is Depew Park. It is one of the best places for recreation. You can enjoy long walks through the woods. Also, you can swim in a pool, have a nice picnic or play some basketball or tennis.
