About Wethersfield
Being founded in 1634, Wethersfield competes with Windsor for the status of the oldest town in the state. Till the end of the 18th century, Wethersfield became an important shipbuilding, onion growing, and trading center. In the 19th century, the local economy seriously grew due to seed production. In the 20th century, it slowly turned into a residential suburb of Hartford.
Nowadays, the town is famous for its huge historical architectural heritage. The historical part of the town has more than 150 buildings built before 1850.
