About Elmo, TX
Elmo is an unincorporated community in Kaufman County, Texas.
It's located 6 miles east of Terrell and 13 miles northeast of Kaufman.
The community sprang up in about 1870 when the Pacific Railway and Texas laid track through the area. The new town was named to honor Elmo Scott, a T&P Railroad surveyor.
At the 2010 Census, the population of Elmo included 768 residents, with a total area of 4.48 square miles.
