About Griswold
Griswold is located in New London County. Originally a part of Preston, the town was incorporated in 1815 and named after Governor Roger Griswold. Jewett City is a town’s borough named after Eliezer Jewett, a prominent local entrepreneur who opened several mills and an irrigation plant in the late 1700s. The early local economy hugely relied on the Pachaug and Quinebaug rivers that flow through Griswold. Nowadays, the town retains its rural charm and slow pace of life.
