Settled in 1692, Chester is a compact rural town. It's a combination of well-designed architecture and natural landscapes. One of the town’s most popular places to visit is the Cockaponset State Forest. It's separated into different locations such as a very special dense forest, Pattaconk Reservoir and rock ledges that are fascinatingly beautiful and open for people to explore. Another important place for Chester and the whole state is Camp Hazen YMCA. Over 6000 youngsters come here every year to join several training programs and activities.
