About Wylie
Wylie is a city located in Collin, Dallas and Rockwall counties. The first settlement was organized in the early 1870s and shortly became a huge railroad center. In 1887 it was incorporated and named for Lt. Colonel William D. Wylie, a Civil War hero. The city’s rapid growth continued in the 20th century. Even the Great Depression had no effect and the Wylie population continued to increase. For a long time, the city was known as the “Onion Capital of the World”. Today, Wylie is known for being one of the best places to live in America.
