About Zion, IL
Zion is a city in Lake County, Illinois, U.S. It lies along Lake Michigan, near the Wisconsin border. Its total area of 9.813 square miles. At the 2010 census, there were 24,508 people.
Early city's industry included a lacework factory; the baking industry was also important. Zion is now primarily residential.
With few exceptions, streets in the city were named for biblical figures. It's currently home to a nuclear power plant but boasts a rich history in American religious movements and utopian city planning.
