About Downers Grove, IL
Downers Grove is a village located in DuPage County, Illinois, 20 miles west of downtown Chicago. The area was first settled in 1832 by Pierce Downer, a New York native who purchased land and built a log cabin in what is now known as Downers Grove. The village was officially incorporated in 1983. The arrival of the Chicago, Burlington, and Quincy Railroad in the late 1800s played a significant role in the town's growth, connecting it to Chicago and other neighboring communities. This transportation link opened doors for commerce, industry, and tourism.
Today Downers Grove blends small-town charm and urban convenience with its picturesque downtown area filled with tree-lined streets, historic buildings, and a vibrant atmosphere.
