About Antioch, IL
Antioch is a village in the U.S. state of Illinois. Its total area is 8.63 square miles, and the population of Antioch is around 14,622 people, according to the 2020 census.
By the late 1800s, the village became a popular vacation spot for Chicagoans, and tourism grew as the rail line to Chicago was laid in 1886.
Unfortunately, terrible fires destroyed much of downtown in 1891, 1903, and 1904.
Today, Antioch is a bedroom community within the Chicago metropolitan and Milwaukee metropolitan area. It hosts concerts in a bandshell, craft fairs, parades, festivals, art walks, gardening tours and more.
