About New Canaan
Originally established as a religious community by the Connecticut colonial legislature in 1731, it gave New Canaan the right to found its own congregational church, but because of being established specifically as an ecclestiastical community in nature, it had no common, main street, or town hall upon its formal incorporation in 1801.
With the advent of the railroad through New Canaan in 1868, many wealthy New Yorkers took to the town’s pastoral beauty and rural serenity, building summer homes there, with many eventually moving to New Canaan year-round, establishing the affluent, genteel, and well-healed community it is today.
New Canaan is statistically one of the wealthiest towns in the continental United States, with the highest per capita median family income, and indeed was voted #1 on CNN’s list of top-earning towns in America, with the New Canaan public education system voted best in the entire U.S. only last year.
And if that wasn’t prestigious enough, the town also became an important and seminal center of modern architectural design from the 1940’s through to the late 1960’s when the so-called ‘Harvard 5’ moved to the town and subsequently “rocked the world of architectural design” with revolutionary designs for homes.
One would hope that in the “revolutionary” design of the houses by the aforementioned ‘Harvard 5’, the architects in question ensured the very best quality and design of locks for the doors. But regardless of how they were designed and installed, should those homes’ residents start experiencing problems with their locks, they’d be hard-pressed to find a better company to provide the very best local residential, commercial, or automotive locksmith services than us here at SURE LOCK & KEY.
